Paypal In Nigeria: How To Register and get Verified Using Any Naira Master/Visa Card from Any Bank In Nigeria.

                                        Img: Techcabal
In Nigeria there are loads of online banking, mobile money and stuff but none seem to fill in the appetite of an average Nigerian developer or e-commerce starts-up who wants to make money online genuinely without the fear of the International buyer or seller feeling abit skeptical when you don't have a PayPal account. But lately Mastercard has been making things possible(but not so well like PayPal would do).

Fortunately on Monday (16th June 2014) former Visa Executive Rupert Keeley announced that PayPal will be adding 10 new countries including Nigeria to it's database. The executive in charge of the EMEA region made it clear that for now these countries will only be allowed to make payment online wherever they see the PayPal Logo.

Now you'll wonder why you still haven't seen Nigeria listed in the Signup page when you visit http://paypal.com ? Well it's simply because the PayPal website automatically detects your country from your IP (Internet Protocol) and then redirects you to the country your IP tells it. But now for those who would love to Signup for this PayPal account directly kindly follow this easy steps below...

How To Signup For The Nigerian PayPal Account

Register a PayPal account from Nigeria.

1. Visit Paypal Nigerian homepage via https://www.paypal.com/ng/ and click on Signup at the top right corner of the page.

2. Click “Open Account” under the “individual” section for a personal account (Unless you want a business account you can click on Business).

3. Fill in the required details including you Credit Card Details (Genuine Details as it'll be used for Verification via your bank account) and click on “Agree and Create Account“.

P.S: If you get an error with the credit card you're using, don't bother about it continue the sign up but go to your bank to make a complain why your card wasn't accepted on PayPal.

4 You should be in your account dashboard but before you make any move check your inbox for EMAIL Verification.

The email should look like this...

Welcome

Dear Jewish Boy(Your Full Name Tho),
Thanks for joining PayPal.
For your security, we need to make sure you are the owner of this account. Please click Activate My Account to confirm your email address.
Activate My Account
Here's what we have on file for you.... Blah Blah Blah! Just click on Activate My Account and enter the confirmation code that came with the email(it's 20 numeric numbers)
Something like...   Confirmation Code
                              xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

You're one step away from Getting a truly Verified PayPal Account here in Nigeria.

To Get Verified Using Any Bank Naira MasterCard/Visa Card (Not Verve).

This part is important because you'll be limited to $250 when you want to spend and also you can't even spend when your account balance is $0.00 USD.  you'll need your credit card to shop/pay for goods.

1. Now click on "GET VERIFIED" a new page opens... See Image below.

2. Click Continue...Bear in mind that $1.95(Almost two dollars: 162x2 = 324naira) will be deducted from your card but will be refunded in 24hrs just to be sure the credit card details and information you checked in corresponds to that in your local bank account. By now you should receive an alert(unless disabled) from your bank via SMS or email with a code which you’ll use in completing the final verification process.

The SMS alert should read.
Acct:******7777
The Naira equivalent of USD1.95 has been authorized for the transaction done on PP*0123CODE 0123456789FF

3. Don't delete the text, copy the 4 digits before CODE (highlighted in red above). That’s what you need to confirm your card.

4. Login back to your PayPal account, click on "Confirm Card” link which should appear on the right sidebar of your dashboard. Then type in the four-digits you copied from your bank alert and click on “Confirm Card” as shown below.

5. A pop-up window should show congratulating you... See Screenshot below

6. Go back to your account, VIOLA!!!

Hope this helps and Happy PayPaling lol.

Piece of Advice: Never use your email address on sites not genuine and also make sure your account use falls in with PayPal policy else you might loose your account(Possibly Money).

Hands on People: iOS 8 coming with WIFI calling to any number. Rogers, T-Mobile confirms.

Reports reaching us explains that Wifi Calling has been enabled in the coming iOS 8 software for iPhone, iPad devices. This feature will allow customers to make phone calls without using a cellular connection. This feature is actually for users who are on a low voice minutes and also allowing roaming overseas without Sim. But if you're thinking BBM Voice, you're wrong because this feature is somewhat limited in the sense that depending on your phone carrier their are certain policies that comes with this feature.

One user comment from imore.com explained it....Read his comment below
There seems to be quite a bit of confusion and misinformation out there regarding Wi-Fi Calling. From what I can tell, Wi-Fi Calling DOES use your monthly pool minutes. See T-Mobile's FAQ here: http://t-mo.co/1tGbG7b which says, "Calls made from the US to US numbers use plan minutes" and Rogers' here: http://roge.rs/1iROGNa which states, "Any voice usage within Wi-Fi coverage is applied against voice minutes allocated in your existing wireless voice plan."
It's great that it will improve call quality and reliability in areas with weak cell network signals. For some people, that will be huge. But If you have a limited amount of plan minutes per month, Wi-Fi Calling will not help you extend those minutes.
P.S: This comment applies to Users in the US per se.

Telecommunication giant who confirmed that has confirmed this feature will roll out once the iOS 8 is fully launched are T-Mobile (a U.S. carrier) and Rogers (in Canada). T-Mobile was first to confirm this tho.

But one question still remains is this feature activated on iPhone/iPad without carriers (well ofcourse it should ?).

Rogers in Canada has stated it will support the feature when it debuts, in a statement provided via email to iPhoneinCanada.ca:
We’ll support the iOS 8 Wi-Fi calling feature when it becomes available in Canada. In the meantime, Rogers customers using the Rogers One Number service on their computer, tablet or smartphone can already make calls over Wi-Fi. They can video chat with other Rogers One Number users or call any Canadian number for free, no matter where they are. For more info on Rogers One Number http://Rogers.com/OneNumber.

Other carriers like Telus and Bellare are yet to update us whether they'll be supporting this feature as well.

What If iPhone 6 Looks Just like this ? | IPhone 6 Mockup - Pictures.

iPhone 6 is coming really soon and i wish this could just be the new iPhone 6 design and this is really cool.

With speculations going round, the official release date for iOS 8 is this fall(2014) and right now a beta version is available for developers but the sad thing is iPhone 4 down to iPod Touch won't be having iOS 8.

Reports also claim Apple won't support those devices anymore as they'll be focusing on iOS 8, iPhone 6, The new headphone Beats by Dre and also their Home Appliance feature.

Spectranet Nigeria now offers almost Unlimited Data Plan - See 2014 Prices.

Like it or not internet cost in Nigeria has been drastically reduced with this new subscription plans from Spectranet.

Please note I'm not here to compare data plans of any network coz that's just wasting of time, all i'm here to do is detail all the subscription plan been offered by Spectranet who was ones an UNLIMITED ISP before they were sanctioned by Jealous ISPs.

*This plans are strictly for Lagosians yet
.

To get started you'll need to buy any of Spectranet internet devices and then subscribe to any of the plan above but there's a trick and i'm going to expose it and give a recommendation.

If you notice, there are 4 different devices you are to choose from i.e:

1 Single User Dongle LTE Freedom,
2 Multi-User Hub CPE LTE Surf n Talk,
3 Portable Multi-user Mifi LTE Lifestyle,
4 Fixed Outdoor Unit LTE Outdoor

My recommendations are(depending on what you want to use the dongle for)

Are you a loner ?
Then Option 1 is for you

Do you have a laptop, a noisy internet freak friend, an android/ios phone that sucks all your mobile data bundle all because of update?

Option 2 is for you coz you can connect to 5 users and they all run on the same speed.

Option 3 is just the same as option 2 the only different is that its mobile, meaning it comes with battery and you can have it put in your pocket while its fully charged.

Option 4 is for Small business owners that are in need of an internet connection(i can't recommend a home user buying this coz its waste of money).

Now here's the trick, the dongle prices vary 17,000, 14,000 or 11,000 which still depends on what data plan you choose although it's only applicable to new users(now that's trickish!)

For example: If you want the 24/7 plan worth 7,000 and you want the Multi-user Hub CPE lte Surf n Talk then it's going to cost you 11,000 to buy the dongle but if you choose the 24/7 plan worth 4,000, you are forced to buy the same dongle for a whooping 17,000! that's ridiculous. However the Spectranet team also discovered that since you can't afford a higher data plan then you better stick to the Single user dongle worth only 7,000

Anyways this is really awesome compared to other ISP in Nigeria extorting users off their money rendering provocative services!

Kindly drop a comment if Spectranet isn't that bad after all!

UPDATE: Spectranet Nigeria Is Rolling Out New Plan March 2016 - Could Be Hurtful to Your Pocket.

Leaked: Amazon First Mobile Phone(Photo).

Here's anexclusive picture of the first Amazon Mobile smartphone, leaked by an insider and thanks to BGR for letting it out. Though this just gives me an Apple feeling they might face a lawsuit for actually design cloning.

But i think its classy atleast when it officially gets into the market in the coming weeks, folks who like Apple design and they can't afford it here's a seconder. Sadly it's not global i guess on in the US.

The device is said to be coming with a 2GB of RAM, 4.7-inch display with 720p HD resolution, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, six individual camera modules and a highly customized version of Google’s Android operating system similar to the one seen on Amazon’s various Kindle Fire tablets.

Funny comment...

IPhone front, Android back, Samsung home button, and Amazon Logo centered perfectly up to on the back. Now talking on the phone will remind passers-by that they need to shop on Amazon instead of going into retail stores. Oh yeah, store clerks will now look at you funny when start price checking while walking down an isle.

Difference between Samsung S5 and HTC One M8.

HTC seems to be gearing up for a breathtaking smartphone that could take the Samsung S5 off market but we'd like to check out some of the specifications and features it promises to bring. Although the Samsung S5 is around the corner and making huge success and the M8 will start selling in few weeks globally.

Samsung for sure are always ready for the competition since their biggest challenge is to beat Apple devices but unfortunately for the mobile phone manufacturer there are more brands to beat than just Apple products. We'll be checking out the difference between this Samsung S5 and the new HTC One M8, though they both have significant differences.

On a first look, the HTC One M8 will just take you away coz it's stylish with the aluminum unibody, a Sense 6 UI while the Samsung S5 it's all about the features, water-resistant chassis, 16MP mega pixel camera, built-in fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor. Like we already know, the description about S5 is something we can say is similar to the iPhone 5 and 5s right?

HTC One M8 and HTC One - Similar Design

Moving further.... Check out the specifications below and i'm just going to make BOLD what an average user will easily notice when checking out a phone specs.

HTC Ultrapixel Camera + Duo Camera (4MP)
F2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens
5MP front-facing camera
1080p video
Battery 2800mAh removable 2600mAh non-removable

There we have it... In a recap, the HTC One M8 seem heavier than the S5, the S5 is .1 inch wider, both running the latest Android 4.4. Talking about memory allocation/RAM they are the same, Battery life the S5 will do more than the M8 however speculations have it that the Samsung S5 battery drains fast when on camera while it's removable the HTC One M8 is none removable like the iPhone. Lastly the Camera, now you might be thinking why did i skip it for battery, i just wanted to clear things out before you start going for the S5 because of the bogus 16MP camera pixel.

The 4MP Camera Ultrapixel is a new technology exclusive to HTC, technically speaking it's a New age feature that i think is better than Samsung S5. Check below pictures of places snapped using both devices.

Now compare the pictures above, it feels like the S5 bleaches the pictures and it adds more color than normal. I can relate the fact that the S5 brightens and uses the lighting and stuffs but can't it be an optional feature. I'm just curios.

Anyways if you don't understand how the HTC Ultrapixel works and meaning here's your chance.

Meaning of HTC Ultrapixel ?

The new HTC One will be the first to feature the HTC UltraPixel Camera - an advanced imaging technology that offers a great leap in the quality of point-and-shoot photos and video. Smartphones have rapidly become the primary camera for millions of people, and taking pictures has become an indispensable part of daily life. HTC is committed to offering the highest quality camera available, so even everyday pictures are gratifying and memorable.

With our new camera, you’ll be able to quickly shoot vivid, true-to-life images with a wide range of colors, even in low light conditions. We accomplish this not by increasing the number of megapixels in the camera, but by engineering a more advanced CMOS Sensor, ISP, and optical lens system that captures significantly more light than most 8 or 13 megapixel cameras.

Steps by Step guide on how To Jailbreak the new iOS7.1.1 on iPhone using Geeksn0w v2.9 Semi-Untethered.

As a custom now, we need to continue following up with the Jailbreak thingy and today i'll be showing you how to semi-untethered jailbreak your iPhone 4 running the latest iOS 7.1.1 using Geeksn0w jailbreaking tool version 2.9.
But before we begin i'd like to warn that this process is at your own risk however i can semi guarantee you nothing serious will happen to your iPhone(unless you didn't follow the instruction below properly, all you just need to do is put your phone back to DFU mode and start all over).
What's the consequence or meaning of this Semi-Untethered Jailbreak ?
IMPORTANT: This is a Semi-Untethered Jailbreak. this means that you can reboot your iPhone without computer and use stock apps / App store apps; but in this way, Cydia, all Jailbreak extensions, Mail, Safari, Calculator and Weather won't wor until you do a tether boot using Geeksn0w(opensnow).

Haven said that lets proceed...
Toolz to be downloaded: Java JRE Offline mode, DotNet Framework and of course iTunes

Let's start!

  1. Download GeekSn0w 2.9 from the official site
  2. Extract the downloaded zip file and run the exe file inside (Run as Administrator)
  3. Now put your iPhone 4 in DFU mode. Just hold down the Home and Power button for 10 seconds, at the end of the latter, release the Power button while continuing to hold only Home button until GeekSn0w respond. Or another way is to hold down the home button and power button at the same and then listen to your PC when it makes that first sound, immediately remove your hand off the power button while still holding the home button(the iPhone should be blank now)
  4. Geeksn0w should have started(Your PC must be Internet enable else it won't work!)
  5. Geeksn0w procedure is fully automated, you'll just have to wait(but don't go take any coffee stay alert! take note lol)
  6. About halfway through the procedure, you will again be asked to set up your iPhone 4 in DFU Mode. Once done, GeekSn0w continue to work.
    9
  7. The phone will reboot in about a minute and come to your home screen, at this point GeekSn0w will be showing the message "Waiting for device to be ready (this will take a lot)".
  8. After about two minutes(perhaps more but don't remove your iPhone), your iPhone will restart automatically and, a few seconds after the restart, GeekSn0w will ask you for the last time to put it into DFU Mode.

    10
  9. Having done so, GeekSn0w perform once again the boot process and, at the end of the latter, It'll warn that the jailbreak has been successful!

As mentioned at the beginning of article, it is a Semi Untethered Jailbreak. Its difference from the traditional tethered is very simple: now you can reboot (power cycle) your iPhone without needing a computer at hand, but by doing so, Cydia, Mail, Safari, Calculator, Weather and all the tweaks installed with the jailbreak, will be deactivated. To reactivate them will require a tethered boot from PC. I'm pretty sure you can boot tether your iPhone using Geeksn0w?
OK here's how...
  • Put your iPhone in DFU mode.
  • Run Geeksn0w 2.9 with Administrator
  • Connect your iPhone and then Click any of the options on the screen that is for your phone which is either "iPhone 4 GSM, iPhone 4 Rev A or iPhone 4 CDMA"
  • It should show Booting with Opensnow
  • Your iPhone will restart
  • Done!
